AKERSHUS FORTRESS (AKERSHUS CASTLE)

Akershus Fortress or Akershus Castle is a medieval castle constructed around the late 1290s, by King Håkon V. Originally built as a royal castle with room for the king's representatives. It was strategically situated on the Akersneset, so that the city center would be protected. The Fortress has also been used as a prison during 1791-1849. Enjoy and see Oslo!
